Elliot A. M. Macdonald
b. 1994 Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK
Based in London, UK

The work circles around the fronts we put up and the quiet performances we slip into when moving through the world. It’s interested in what gets in the way of real connection, the habits, codes and learned behaviours that keep people politely apart.

Using playful, often interactive forms, Macdonald’s practice leans into emotion, human behaviour and altered states of consciousness. The work tries to give shape to things that are hard to pin down in language, those half-formed feelings, social tensions and moments of recognition. At its heart is an invitation to loosen the mask, step out from behind the façade, and see what more honest ways of being together might look like.
